View published to illustrate the Atlante di Geografia Storica Moderna Universale, published in Milan in 1857-63 by Francesco Pagnoni.
This work is profusely illustrated with numerous antique color prints drawn and lithographed by various authors. The main author of the plates is Carlo Barbieri, painter, designer and lithographer born in Milan in 1816. After his studies at the Academy of Brera, he exhibited several times at the same Institute.
The illustrations are printed at the lithographic company of the Terzaghi brothers, founded by Vincenzo (1779 - 1835) and Gaetano (1805 - ?), who worked in Milan from the first part of the 19th century until 1863.
Francesco Pagnoni, is a publisher active in Milan since 1842 for about 30 years. He published books, atlases, maps and city views.
