Beautiful lithographic plate designed and lithographed by André Durand in 1842. Published in Paris by Gihaut Brothers.
André Durand, (1807-1867) a highly regarded draughtsman and lithographer, and an expert on archaeology was prompted by the enthusiasm of Russian Prince Anatole Demidoff. In addition to the series of lithographs of Russia, Durand produced, an album with 18 lithographs of picturesque views of Elba Island (in collaboration with Eugène Ciceri); some featuring the Napoleonic Museum founded by Prince Demidoff.
Very good state of preservation. Rare.
