Beautiful view engraved by François Morel for the publisher Agapito Franzetti.
Taken from Raccolta di N 40 vedute antiche, et moderne della città di Roma et sue Vicinanze. Incise da Morel, Acquaroni, Parboni, ed altri celebri bulini, undated but circa 1800.
François Morel or Francesco Morelli (ca. 1768 – ca. 1840) was a French-Italian painter and engraver. He was active in Naples and known as a painter or engraver of Pompeian subjects. He was born in the Franche-Comté, and then traveled to Rome, where was a pupil of Francesco Volpato. He completed a series of engravings depicting the so-called Villa of Horace in Licenza with Hackert and Luigi Sabatelli.
A fine impression on contemporary paper, with full margins, good condition.
