Description
Very nice optical view of Venice, engraved by François Xaver Habermann, edited by dall’Académie Impériale d'Empire des Arts libereaux, 1780 circa.
From a series Collection des Prospects. The title is engraved backwards because the works were intended to be shown on a wall or screen using a “magic lantern”, an optical device that projected the image by means of candles and mirrors.
Etching, finely hand coloured, very good condition.
