Plate taken from L'Art. revue hebdomadaire illustrée, an illustrated weekly published for the first time in Paris on January 3, 1875, under the direction of Eugène Véron, in association with Librairie de l'Art, located at 3 rue de la Chaussée d'Antin (an establishment run by Hippolyte Heymann, who was appointed editor of the periodical).

Auguste BOULARD (Parigi, Francia, 12 maggio 1825 - 11 ottobre 1897)
In Paris, he frequents the sculptor Geoffroy-Dechaume, the painters Jean-François Millet, Eugène Delacroix and the poet Charles Baudelaire.
He began at the Salon in 1847 with a portrait and regularly work at genre scenes, still lifes, landscapes, seascapes, interior scenes and portraits.
