Jan Goeree (1670-1731) draughtsman, engraver, poet and author; born in Middleburg but mainly working in Amsterdam where he also died. Son of Willem Goeree and Pupil of Gerard de Lairesse in Amsterdam; 1715 designed ceiling paintings for town-hall of Amsterdam (painted by Hoogzaat and Rademaker). Mainly active as designer and engraver of title-pages.
