Etching and engraving.
This perspective plan is the first overall image of Messina. It's also the first one to shows the New Arsenals, built on the arm of St. Ranieri in 1565 - Arcenale Novo fate L anno 1565. The design is very accurate and detailed: besides the rendering of the buildings that's very realistic, there are many kind of ships. At the bottom of the image, is also shown the coast of Calabria.

At the bottom, a key of 167 notable places or buildings. At bottom right the dedication to Pietro de Luna e Salviati (1520-1575), first Duke of Bivona.
