Description
Etching, 1681, dated in plate lower right.
Beautiful proof, printed on contemporary laid paper, with margins, small wormholes on the left white margin, otherwise in excellent condition.
The work reproduces the famous Virgin of the Forsaken of Valencia, the city's patron and located in the church.
Dedicated to Juan Tomás de Rocaberti (c. 1624 – 13 June 1699) a Spanish theologian. In 1676 he was appointed by Carlos II of Spain first Archbishop of Valencia, and then governor of that province. In 1695 he was made inquisitor-general of Spain.
A very rare work, not described by the repertoires consulted.
