View taken from the NUOVA RACCOLTA DI CENTO PRINCIPALI VEDUTE ANTICHE E MODERNE DELL’ALMA CITTA’ DI ROMA E DELLE SUE VICINANZE DISPOSTE SECON IL METODO DELL’ITINERARIO DI ROMA printed in Rome, at the Studio Vasi, in 1796. It is a collection in 4° oblong, with 100 plates engraved.

Mariano (Rome, 1744 - Rome, 1820 - 1822) was the son of the well-known Sicilian-born engraver Giuseppe Vasi. Lacking an autonomous and defined artistic personality, Mariano joined his father in the chalcographic workshop, located on the ground floor of the Palazzo Farnese in Rome. Upon his father's death in 1782, Mariano continued to publish his works, including the Magnificenze di Roma antica e moderna, commissioning various artists-usually of modest standing-to modify them or paint them in watercolor where necessary. Mariano also continued to publish and update the guidebooks written by his father, first among them the l'Itinerario Istruttivo diviso in otto giornate. In the latter part of his career he opened a bookstore in Via del Babuino, Rome.

Etching, in good condition.
