View of the Piazza di Spagna with the Spanish Steps of Trinità dei Monti, edited by Agapito Franzetti in the early 19th century. It belongs to a collection of 36 large, engraved views of Rome published with the imprint “Roma: Agapito Franzetti at Corso”. The plates are dated between 1797-1800, and signed by Pietro Ruga, François Morel [i.e. Francesco Morelli], Vincenzo Feoli, Vincenzo Balestra and Domenico Pronti.
Agapito Franzetti (fl. 1790-1820 circa) was a print publisher in Rome, describes himself as 'calcografo e mercante di stampe'. Working with different business address: “nel Corso, alle Convertite”; “al Corso che da Piazza di Sciarra va a S. Marcello”; “via del Corso no.170” and “Piazza Navona, Torre Sanguigna”. Published a catalogue in 1800, when described by Bonato as having the best stock of new prints in Rome.
Copperplate, printed on contemporary paper, with margins, perfect condition. Rare.
