“This composition was originally painted in about 1520-21 in the Massimi chapel of Santissima Trinità dei Monti in Rome. Mignon depicts the central group hovering over a rocky outcrop and surrounded by clouds and rays , not visible in the original painting . The circular plate reflects the lunette shape of the original fresco , which is now in the National Gallery in London ( NG225 )” (cf. C. Jenkins, Prints at the Court od Fontainebleau, c. 1542-47, p. 345).
A fine impression, printed on contemporary laid paper without watermark, with unusual margins, perfect condition. Rare.

His work as a decorative painter at the château of Fontainebleau between 1538 and 1544 is recorded in the Comptes des bâtiments du roi, but no work by him in this medium has been identified. He signed two etchings, of which one was an ornamental cartouche dated 1544. On stylistic criteria Herbet attributed 27 engravings to him and Zerner 60.
