Description
Three Greyhounds. Landscape with three dogs at centre, one squatting in order to defecate at right; second state with number.
Etching, 1654, lettered within image, in lower right corner: "J. Jonck heer f" and "2".
This is one from a series of four plates showing dogs and hounds, of which two plates are engraved by Paulus van Hillegaert (Hollstein 9-10) and two by Jacob de Jonckheer (Hollstein 1-2). They were later published by Claes Jansz Visscher and Clement de Jonghe.
A fine impression, printed on contemporary laid paper, trimmed to the platemark, a small repaired tear at the top, otherwise good condition.
