Description
Etching, 1795 circa, signed “Vincenzio Tarchi”, at the end of the long description.
This plate is probably a proof of the table designed to illustrate the work Firenze Antica, e Moderna Illustrata, tome VI, by V. Follini, edited by Anton Giuseppe Pagani & Comp., in Florence 1795. This proof is before the number in the upper right (page 381) and before the numbers referring to the legend contained on page 382.
The spectacle was performed on 21, 26 and 29th of September, on the occasion of the feast of Saint John the Baptist, the city's patron saint.
Good example, printed on contemporary laid paper, some restored tears, generally in good condition.
