Engraving, 1770 circa, signed at lower 'Domenico Maiotto pin.' at right 'Innocente Alessandri scolp'.
Lettered in margin with two lines: “Chi può degli Astri e delle sfere a parte segnar la via? Dell’Uomo la scienza e l’arte/ Sydera cuncta notat magno hic fulgentia Caelo Stellarumque ortus comperit atque obitus”, numbered at lower left “A. N° 6”
Good example, printed on conmporary laid paper, with watermark “R”, wide margins, in very good condition.
The plate shows three men engaged in astronomical research, one holding dividers looking into a open book, another holding up a telescope with an orrery in front of him.
